The 19th May sees the launch of Bath’s new flagship music festival – the Bath Festival! This includes 2,000 performances across over 30 venues and 3 outdoor arenas including Bath’s historic venues, churches and museums. The aim is to offer a mix of music genres: folk, rock, classical, jazz, acoustic, swing and soul, and the event is absolutely free.
The opening night brings together the voices of 100 school children filling the Abbey with their stunning voices, head there to spectate or you can join in with the samba and drumming on Carnival Street, or take your little ones along to the family friendly extravaganza on Alfred Street.
The main event will be on Queens Square where bands include Sleeptalking – a sassy and colourful youth band offering grunge revival, Bare Knuckle Parade – a 5 piece band that started by busking on the cobbled streets of Bath, and headliners Bite The Buffalo – currently touring the UK and supported Led Zeppelin's front man Robert Plant. Moles will be opening a pop-up bar if you fancy ciders in the sun and if that is not enough head to one of the several after-hours nightclubs to cut some shapes.
This is a great time to be staying in the city – invite your family, friends, and co-workers and come to celebrate the arts in Bath.
The Bird, Bath is based within the city centre and is conveniently located to all venues, in addition you can enjoy free parking and if you book direct you will find the lowest bed and breakfast rates available.
