The wonderful Bath Christmas Market is fast approaching! Bath city comes alive in all its festive glory.
Just a short 10 minute walk along Pulteney Road and over North Parade you are met with the Après ski bar just outside the Abbey Hotel. This pop up snow topped cabin with twinkling lights, a warming glow from the windows, not in the Alps but in the very heart of Bath at Christmas!
Follow the sounds and smells down to the Abbey green to begin your market experience. With the beautifully lit chalets surrounding the giant tree in the centre you can get caught up in the moment with the sounds of carollers as you head down Abbeygate Street towards more delightful sounds.
Heading along Stall Street where you are spoilt for choice in which direction to head. You’ll need a map to plan direction with around 170 chalets to visit, left to Bath Street or right up York Street where you then meet the main Abbey Churchyard. Here the main hub of the chalets can be found.
Here the mix of crafts, gifts, jewellery is amazing along with the smells from the chou chou nuts, crunchy, caramel nuts made using fresh ingredients and spice and local steak house The Herd serving up prime matured steak in a ciabatta roll with caramelised red onion to the wonderful aroma of mulled wine, which is particularly tasty with a shot of brandy, so I’m told!
Bath Christmas Market carefully handpicks all of the makers to ensure the produce is of the highest quality. The majority of the businesses are from Bath and the surrounding areas and 75% of the goods are made in the UK.
With the market open daily Monday to Wednesday – 10am to 7pm, Thursday to Saturday – 10am to 8.30pm and Sunday – 10am to 6pm from Thursday 26th November to Sunday 13th December, it is definitely and experience not to be missed.
